Choose to Read Ohio (CTRO) spotlights Ohio authors and promotes reading across Ohio. The State Library of Ohio, Ohioana Library Association and Ohio Center for the Book encourage Ohioans of all ages to read and enjoy books together.

Each CTRO booklist highlights selected books for a two-calendar-year promotion. Free, downloadable, resource-packed readers' toolkits are available for current and past CTRO books.

Classes, libraries, bookstores, families, and community groups are welcome to use CTRO.  Participation may be as simple as a book group selecting a title to discuss, or as elaborate as a regional partnership among schools, libraries, and organizations, with educational programming and special events.

An Educators' Tipsheet for school librarians and teachers provides Common Core/Ohio's New Learning Standards connections, Lexile scores, and activity ideas for extension and integration using CTRO books.

Promotional materials and toolkits are free and available to anyone participating in CTRO. No registration is required.

CTRO is supported by an Advisory Team and partner organizations.  Titles on the CTRO booklist meet the CTRO eligibility criteria.

Choose to Read Ohio encourages Ohioans to Read Together, Read Ohio, Read for Life!

CTRO toolkits enhance the reading and discussion experience, with author biographies and photos, book summaries, discussion questions, project ideas and extension activities, connections to academic content standards, and links to entertaining and educational resources. Click on a book title or jacket image to download the toolkit (PDF format). Toolkits for 2015 & 2016 titles are in development and are being posted as each is completed.
