The LSTA Open Grant program will allow libraries to address a specific customer need or develop an innovative program idea. This program will allow applicants to apply a new method to solve a problem, build a program or service and assist the library in carrying out their mission and plan while helping the State Library address LSTA goals. All projects must focus on the needs of a specific target audience. It is strongly advised that applicants speak with LSTA staff or a Library Development Consultant about their project idea for feedback and guidance prior to submitting the application.
The LSTA Open Grant program allows applicants as much flexibility in the development of their project as possible. Applicants may seek awards for projects that do not fall within the funding parameters of the current LSTA category or that fall outside of the timeline for those projects. The Open Grant encourages libraries to be flexible, innovative, and creative.
Proposals may request no more than $4,999 in federal funds. A financial cash match of 25% of the total project cost is required from the institution. In-kind contributions do not qualify as matching funds. For example, if the federal request is for $4,999 the in-cash match must be $1,250.
Proposals must be submitted electronically as a complete package to email@example.com.
